How Can I Start Purging

Have you begun the cleaning, throwing out and purging that you promise yourself you will do? What if you suddenly become unable to purge and organize? You would sadly think back on all of the time that you had to do it.

How would you feel, as you lay on your bed or couch, having to watch others come in and do what you procrastinated about? Maybe they would not want to do it. They might feel annoyed and frustrated, wondering why you had not done it?

If you passed away unexpectedly, how would others feel having to plough through and process your stuff? Yes, you would be gone and it wouldn't matter to you but it's unfair to leave a mess for those after you to clean up. It's better if you leave organization.

I don't want my remaining years bogged down with the knowledge that hoards of stuff, bulging files and unnecessary possessions are needling my mind. I want to live with a clear conscience that I've done all that I can to live organized. I can live happy that I've done my best to make it easier on those who will process my affairs when I am gone.

Get rid of what you don't use now. Dispose of craft supplies and tools, household stuff and anything else that you suspect you'll never get around to using. Whenever possible, give to people now the things that you want them to have. Be brutal in purging, cleaning out, throwing away and passing on. You'll live in peace from now on and die in peace.

Buy tags to organize. These tags can be printed, cut out, hole-punched and threaded with yarn, string or ribbon.

They can then be tied to drawers and cabinet knobs to label the contents. They can also be glued to the front of drawers to name the contents.
